| Download the Files |
You may download the tutorial files from this page. The download involves a zipped archive file and contains two saved games plus a configuration file. These saved games occupy the middle two slots of the available six saved game slots. If you unzip to your Orion directory, the three tutorial files will overwrite your existing files of the same names. You might want to move those to a backup directory first. Don't extract the config file if you don't need it. You may change the slots the games will appear in by changing the file names to reflect a different game number. There are six player-controlled saves, games one to six. Game seven is the autosave.
Game names as shown from the load screen are not stored in the saved games, but in the game's primary config file. Sound settings are also stored there. If you have existing saved games, you can use your own existing config file. Otherwise you should use the config file in the zip, but you will have to reset sound settings using Install.exe if you do so. The tutorial start file is Game 4. The tutorial end file is Game 3. If you use the config file I've included, the games will be properly named when you go to load them. If you use your own config file, the names will be whatever you had for those slots. (If you have nothing in those slots, the games will not show up. That's why I've included a config file, should you decide that you need it).
Unzip the files to your Master of Orion directory. Game 4 is "Sirian's Tutorial". This is the start file. Game 3 is "Tutorial 2". This is the game as it stands when the tutorial ends. I recommend that you NOT load the second game until you finish the tutorial, so that you see the game unfold (without spoilers) as you work through the tutorial. The second file is included in case you want to play past the point at which the tutorial is concluded, or to poke around for curiosity's sake.
